REVIEW: OK. What in the world did I just read!? Please! Someone! Tell me!
I was hooked by this book for a LONG time… and even when I put it down - thinking it was a DNF - I couldn’t stop thinking about it. How did it end? What would happen? What the heck caused this disease? So, I gave it another chance. I kept reading & reading & reading, waiting for the big hook & dagger, but all I got was more unlikable characters & more … wandering …
Honestly, I would’ve been all about this one if not for the “wandering,” the unlikable characters, & really, ultimately, the ending. I had a really hard time swallowing the ending - ugh, it was just weird & honestly a poor attempt at something that ultimately felt like a mockery. (For the sake of avoiding spoilers, I’ll leave it there.) If you have any hesitations about this one, hit me up! If you read this one & care to chat with me about what the heck this book is about, please do slide into my DMs. Thank you very much. :p
Overall, not a book I’d recommend unless you can handle long drawn out novels (this one is 750 pages) or weird plot lines having to do with pandemics.
SENSITIVITY WARNINGS: Pandemic, extensive loss, explicit sexual content, much language. Honestly probably not the best book to read right now for those who struggle with anxiety.
