Something odd is happening at the Bartholomew. Will Jules figure it out before it's too late? An edge of your seat thriller you'll likely drop everything else for.
WOWEE Riley Sager!! Fast paced, beautifully written, unpredictable. Sager nails it again! My absolute favorite of Sager's (now) trilogy of novels. WHAT I LOVED: From the very first pages of "Lock Every Door" I was hooked — line AND sinker. Sager expertly crafts a plot worthy of the title "thriller" and I felt so honored to be a part of the ride. I fell for Jules as a friend. She was an intriguing protagonist — one with a complicated past, but familiar future. The novel revealed Jules' many heartbreaks in relatable way — love, loss, fear, loneliness — yet she possessed a background only a few ever come to experience, lending to her intrigue as a leading lady. Richly told from the angle of time, Sager is really an exciting mystery writer flipping the narrative back and forth between Jules' present and past and offering the reader an exciting "front seat ride" as the many layers of the ultimate scandal is revealed. WHAT I DIDN'T LOVE: There were only a few moments in which I struggled to believe that Jules' actions were truly ones she would've been emboldened enough to take. For the sake of not revealing any spoilers, I'll leave it there. I don't entirely believe she would've taken the risks she did in the end if this were real life, some of her actions seemed really risky, but I can believe her character had everything in her to be courageous with a side of spite.
Overall, an absolute page-turner of a mystery that is worth the very short time it takes to devour its 381 pages. A real treat and third reason (right along his other smashing books) to be a huge fan of Riley Sager! Already looking forward to his next book!!
