REVIEW
I immediately wanted to start this book all over again when I finished the last page. I absolutely fell in love with Eleanor’s character and the unraveling of a sweet love story between her and that “nerdy IT guy.” 😍
Gail Honeyman achieved an absolute gem of a book that covers not only issues of social anxiety but also depression and family trauma. I’m so grateful she took the time to bring a character to life who overcomes these issues in a healthy and really beautiful way without losing her quirks or spunk. So many books miss the mark on this one — characters should grow into themselves, refining their choices, attitudes, viewpoints, etc. without losing what is so unique about their personality.
Overall, I adored this story and definitely will be re-reading this one again. Also, I'm absolutely looking forward to the movie adaptation.
RECOMMENDED?
YES. YES. YES! To anyone who loves a quirky character. This is a hard book, but has a beautiful ending.
